AngelSounds Fetal Doppler

The AngelSounds Fetal Doppler is a lightweight handheld device used to hear the sound of your baby’s heartbeat, hiccups and kicks as early as 12 weeks into pregnancy. It is designed specifically for home use and provides parents with peace of mind that their unborn baby is happy and well.

An audio cable is cable provided to allow you to record and capture these sounds for a lifetime … a unique keepsake or way to share your pregnancy with friends and family. AngelSounds can also be used to record your own heartbeat. Played back to your newborn this will have a soothing and calming effect – a perfect solution for that restless newborn.

How to use it

Simply apply ultrasound gel to the fetal doppler transducer and place the transducer on your abdomen. It is preferable if you are lying down, although it may be possible to find the heart rate in a sitting or standing position. Early in pregnancy the best technique is to begin with the transducer just above the pubic hairline aiming downward behind the pubic bone. Then slowly angle the transducer to search for the fetal heart rate. Move the transducer slowly as early in pregnancy the fetal heart is so small and the sound so faint that it is easy to miss the sounds. A full bladder can make it easier to find the heartbeat.

The fetal heart rate can be determined by counting the heart beats for a minute (bpm). An average normal fetal heart rate is between 120-160 bpm, where as an average adult heart rate at rest is between 60-80 bpm. The baby’s heartbeat sounds like the “clippety-clop” of a galloping horse. If you have concerns about your pregnancy you should contact your healthcare provider.

How does it work?

AngelSounds detects the fetal heart rate by emitting and receiving continuous ultrasonic sound waves at a frequency of 3.3MHz. These signals are processed and amplified through the instrument’s earphone making the babies heartbeat clearly audible.
